Benevento is a town of Campania, capital of the province, also known as Sannio. With its 62,940 residents is the ninth most populous municipality in the region.

Sannita, Roman, Longobarda, and then papal, Benevento boasts an excellent historical and archaeological heritage. A legend dating from medieval wants the "city of witches", fame that still survives today. Closely linked to the legend comes product liquor Strega Alberti excellent product and local production only.

Benevento is the headquarters of the University of the Sannio, excellent school recognize at nationally level for the team of teachers present.
The university is located in several little strategic points, just encouraging long walks between teaching.

The historic centre of Benevento is located between the rivers Calore and Sabato. It is crossed by two main roads: Corso Dante and the spacious Corso Garibaldi, on which some open squares, the highest point is the Castle, the famouse "Rocca dei Rettori". The acropolis of Benevento retain a vast quantities of monuments, of which the main ones are placed on Corso Garibaldi. The new area of the city centre is located east of the historic center and is represented by two tree-lined avenues: "Viale Antonio Mellusi" built after the war and "Viale Atlantici" completed in 1932.  Note is also the School Students Carabinieri located in Viale Atlantici.



Continuing along the hill follow Via delle Puglie come to the residential Pacevecchia. Here is located the Hospital "Gaetano Rummo", the quarter spread around Villa dei Papi once the residence of Bishop Orsini,
here we also find the beautiful stadium where the game Rugby Benevento.

Benevento also has a Rione Ferrovia which is located north of the river Calore, the district is crossed by Viale Principe di Napoli bridge that leads from the railway station.

Along the avenue are the Church of Santa Maria di Costantinopoli and the Hospital Sacred Heart of Jesus religious view from the Fatebenefratelli.

Ai piedi del centro storico verso sud abbiamo la zona di Porta Rufina. Il collegamento dalla zona alta avviena tramite Piazza Orsini e Via delle Puglie lungo la quale si trova la Facoltà di Scienze Economiche e Aziendali (SEA) ed alcune dislocazioni della Facoltà d'Ingegneria.

Dal ponte di Santa Maria degli Angeli che passa sopra il fiume Sabato si estende via Napoli dove alla fine di essa si estende il quartiere più popolato della città, il "Rione Libertà" chiamato in volgare dai cittadini locali "le palazzine". 

Benevento ha anche molti monumenti storici tra i più importanti ricordiamo: l'Arco di Traiano, il Ponte Leproso,  il Teatro Romano, la Chiesa di Santa Sofia, la Rocca dei Rettori, il Duomo e per finire il famoso Hortus Conclusus di arte moderna.
