Benevento is a town of Campania, capital of the province, also known
as Sannio. With its 62,940 residents is the ninth most populous
municipality in the region.
Sannita, Roman, Longobarda, and then papal, Benevento boasts an excellent historical and archaeological heritage. A legend dating from medieval wants the "city of witches", fame that still survives today. The
historic centre of Benevento is located between the rivers Calore and

avenues: "Viale Antonio Mellusi" built after the war and "Viale

Benevento also has a Rione Ferrovia which is located north of the river Calore, the district is crossed by Viale Principe di Napoli bridge that leads from the railway station. Along the
avenue are the Church of Santa Maria di Costantinopoli and the Hospital
Sacred Heart of Jesus religious view from the Fatebenefratelli. in the District have also established the two main confectionery industries of the city: the Fabbriche Riunite Torrone di Benevento and the Strega Alberti. Benevento ha anche molti monumenti storici tra i più importanti ricordiamo: l'Arco di Traiano, il Ponte Leproso, il Teatro Romano, la Chiesa di Santa Sofia, la Rocca dei Rettori, il Duomo e per finire il famoso Hortus Conclusus di arte moderna. |
